Key timeframes under the Schedule 1A granny flat process:
Apply for a Project Information Memorandum (PIM) before any work begins. Council has 10 working days to issue it.
Two years from the PIM issue date to complete. An extension or fresh PIM may be needed if it runs over.
Provide council with completion documentation within 20 working days. This may include:
Layout tweaks, cladding changes, resizing, windows or site-specific modifications — get in touch and we'll price a custom version.
To design extraordinary small spaces that make people feel more alive, more free, and more at home.
Our plans are shaped around New Zealand's exemption rules, but exemption is never automatic. Final outcomes depend on your site, your LBP, and your local council.
